The Tactile State Museum Omero, a museum to love with the eyes and the hands.

The first and only State Tactile Museum at an international level, the Omero Museum is an innovative museum and a great attraction for all those who want to approach and learn about art.

A unique space, without barriers, a model of excellence in the scenario of cultural opportunities for the blind and visually impaired that intends to export their experience and their philosophy by promoting the multi-sensory use of cultural heritage. Housed in the eighteenth-century halls of the Mole Vanvitelliana of Ancona, it is proposed as a three-dimensional encyclopedia of the history of art.

His collection documents in an organic way the plastic and sculptural art of all time: from the true copies of classical Greece, of Michelangelo and Canova to the original sculptures of the rich contemporary section with, among others, Giorgio de Chirico, Marino Marini, Arturo Martini, Francesco Messina. The Museum is a training and research center, a permanent laboratory for the enhancement and use of the work of art, promoter of tactile exhibitions of national and international importance and of thematic reviews, educational agency for schools and families.

In our museum you are welcome!

You can come and go for free to learn about our sculptures and our architectural models both in a classic way, with open eyes, in a more unusual way, with your eyes closed, using only the touch, or better yet both senses. If you wish, we will give you some tips on tactile reading of a work and we will explain to you how this Museum was born, its philosophy and its role on the international scene.

All the rooms of the Museum are accessible thanks to the elevators. Two wheelchairs are available to the public to allow those with mobility problems to visit the museum more easily. The wheelchair can be requested at the reception. Panels and captions are in Braille for the blind and in strong contrast to help the visually impaired. Moving platforms with stairs allow the exploration of tall buildings. Braille information material is available at the museum reception. For people with hearing impairments, Italian texts are available at the entrance with images for museum visits in autonomy and videos accessible in LIS and subtitled on three works in the collection.
